Almost Done...
Okay so I said that today was my last day of GameDev for this project, and I'm going to stand by that. Buttttt... depends when you think the day ends, right? Basically my dungeons are quite boring right now, and I said to myself yesterday that I'd devote a couple hours on sprucing up the rooms, making it more difficult... but I haven't done it yet. So I'm writing this post and then I'm making a coffee. It's gonna be a long night...
Since my last post I've included:
- Save Files! Once again, Brackeys comes to the rescue. Only one save file exists unfortunately, and the items aren't saved. I'm sure I could keep at it but I'm incredibly drained and I feel sick, so I don't want anything too taxing, so this just won't be completed. The position, maxhealth and currenthealth of the player are saved however (but cannot move between scenes when loading a file oops).
- Music! I added a horrible song into my game made using BoscaCeoil. I hate it and I hope it dies. Very much considering removing this.
- Fixed the Bow! The bow now spawns on top of the player! I had to create ANOTHER script for the bow (its like the fifth one) to update the position once its been instantiated (which happens in a different script), and the player can equip the bow when pressing the button in the gear, but cannot unequip it.
- Finished the Game Over menu, I think? Honestly cannot remember this one. I made the quit game button but I don't think I ever finished the load game button.
Quite good progress today I think, so I'm almost happy to call it a night. But now I'm going to take a moment to recognise the elements I just didn't finish:
- Bombs
- Money
- Maybe the Load Game button after the player dies
- Full save files
- Multiple save files
- A third boss
- A way to win (seems important lol)
- A tutorial (I thought I made it but it didn't work and I canny be bothered to find out why)
As first games go, quite a tricky one I think. I should've structured the development way more and maybe madfe a few smaller games beforehand. I will definitely focus on smaller projects after I've taken a short break. But anyway, I'll cover some of that stuff in my final DevLog post.
xoxo sleepy boy
